Privacy

Last updated October 23, 2026. This notice describes the Quran Duo iOS app and the website at duoquran.com, operated by OTHERX inc. We will update it when the app or website begins using services that change these practices.

The app

Quran Duo is designed to work offline. The Qur’an text, the ClearQuran English translation, and the app’s search index are included with the app. Reading position, bookmarks, display preferences, Daily Discovery state, and listening or practice progress are stored on your device. Searches and reading activity are processed on your device. The current Release build does not send this app activity to OTHERX or an analytics provider, and it has no account, advertising, cross-app tracking, or cloud-sync feature.

The current Release build does not use analytics or crash-reporting services.

Audio, microphone, and recitation

The current App Store Release configuration has no production audio catalog or delivery host enabled. Audio downloads and remote audio requests are therefore unavailable in that build. The app does not use the microphone, record what you recite, send your voice to a speech-recognition service, or grade pronunciation. Playback and repetition counts are not a measure of memorization or correctness.

A separate invite-only test build has an experimental audio service. If you use that build, the invitation code is sent to Cloudflare Workers to validate access. A successful connection returns an access token that stays in app memory for that session; it expires after eight hours. When you request a test clip, Cloudflare receives the selected language, voice, chapter and ayah in the request path, as well as technical connection information such as your IP address. The clip is served from OTHERX’s private Cloudflare R2 storage and is marked private and not cacheable. The test app does not intentionally save listening history or send analytics. Cloudflare’s provider-level retention for these Worker requests has not been verified. This test service is not enabled in the current App Store Release configuration.

Production audio delivery is planned for a later configured release. The prepared design would send a signed Apple purchase transaction to Cloudflare Workers for verification with Apple, and would use a random app-install token plus selected chapter and ayah to enforce a limited audio-preview allowance. The service design uses short-lived access tokens and deletes preview-allowance and revocation records after up to 24 hours. This service is not currently reachable from the App Store Release build. We will update this notice and the App Store privacy answers before enabling it, to match the actual provider configuration.

Purchases

The Learning purchase is not available in the current release configuration. If purchases are enabled in a later release, Apple will process transactions through the App Store. The prepared audio service would receive the signed transaction information required to verify the purchase and provide or restore access; OTHERX does not receive your payment-card details. We will update this notice to match the purchase and service that are actually offered.

Website and hosting

The duoquran.com website is a static site. It has no account, contact form, advertising pixel, session-replay tool, or website analytics script. The site itself does not create an analytics or advertising identifier in cookies or local storage.

Cloudflare provides DNS, network delivery, and security for the domain. When your browser requests a page or file, Cloudflare necessarily processes connection and request details such as your IP address, requested URL, browser and device information, time, and response status. Cloudflare also provides domain-level aggregate request and visitor statistics to OTHERX. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary security mechanisms, including cookies where needed; its own processing and retention are governed by Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Cloudflare documents at least 31 days of availability for certain adaptive traffic and security analytics datasets on Free and Pro plans; this does not establish the retention period for every underlying log or security record.

Support messages and other providers

If you email hello@otherx.app, OTHERX and its email provider, Google Workspace, receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to send. We use the message to respond and handle your request. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, or information you do not want included in a support email.

We have not verified a fixed deletion schedule for support messages or the retention settings of the mailbox. Messages may remain in the mailbox and its backups according to account settings and operational needs. You can ask us to delete a support message by writing to the same address; we will explain if a legal, security, or record-keeping need prevents deletion.

The app does not call a remote Quran translation service. Links to source, license, and other third-party websites open outside the app or website; those services receive the information your browser or device normally sends when you visit them and are governed by their own privacy terms.

Your choices and local data

You can use the reader without creating an account or providing personal information. Reading data and preferences remain on the device in the current app configuration. You can reset reading progress in the app’s settings; bookmarks are retained by that reset. You can remove downloaded audio from the app where downloads are available. Deleting the app removes its local app data from the device, subject to any device backup or operating-system behavior. We have not independently verified how your device backup settings retain app data.

Because the current app does not send reading activity or local progress to OTHERX, we cannot retrieve or delete that on-device data for you. Use the app’s reset controls or remove the app from your device.
